Head Of Road Freight

Streamline Recruitment are working with a well-established logistics business who are looking to appoint a Head of Road Freight Operations at their site in Thurrock.

This is a hands-on role, leading a small team with a focus on improving operational efficiency, implementing effective processes, and driving profitability — all while ensuring exceptional customer service. You'll also take ownership of compliance across import/export procedures, support ongoing team development, and play a key role in the next phase of operational growth.

The Role:

• Oversee the day-to-day running of road freight operations
• Manage and develop a small team, including appraisals, reviews, and disciplinaries
• Ensure full compliance with customs regulations, H&S, and ISO standards
• Identify and implement process improvements across the operation
• Collaborate closely with warehousing and contract logistics teams
• Attend client meetings and contribute to business reviews and wider strategy

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven experience in a freight or transport management role
• Strong understanding of import/export operations and procedures
• Confident team leader with a track record of supporting development and driving change

Hours:
 Monday to Friday – 45 hours per week

Salary & Benefits:
