Senior HV Design Engineer - Dublin Based

We are working with a leading international engineering and building services company specialising in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation design, installation, and technical solutions for complex projects — particularly in data centres, energy, industrial and built-environment sectors.

What are we looking for?

Our client are seeking to attract and recruit a Senior HV Design Engineer who will lead the design and technical delivery of high-voltage substations (AIS & GIS) for data centre projects. You will hold full responsibility for design integrity, compliance, and performance from concept through energisation, acting as the primary technical authority and client interface.

More about the job and key responsbilities

• Lead the design and delivery of HV electrical systems (concept to energisation).

• Develop HV layouts, design philosophies, and project-specific standards aligned with IEC, IEEE, EN, and utility requirements.

• Design and approve protection & control systems, including protection coordination and interlocking philosophies.

• Review and approve single-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring drawings.

• Lead HV studies (load flow, fault level, arc flash, protection coordination, voltage regulation).

• Provide technical oversight during pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.

• Act as the primary engineering interface with clients, utilities, and Owner’s Engineers.

• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and project-specific requirements.

What are we looking for?

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems).

• Minimum 5 years’ HV design experience with a contractor or utility.

• Strong experience in AIS/GIS substation design and commissioning.

• Proficiency in ETAP, EPLAN, AutoCAD, CYMCAP, and CDEGS.

• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.

• Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.

• Commissioning experience highly desirable.
