The Role

As an Associate you will be responsible for supporting and delivering designs for Residential, Commercial sector. You will work within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and support staff delivering a consistent high-quality service for clients, ensuring that repeat and new business opportunities are developed, and profitability is achieved. The role is instrumental in helping to continue to grow and develop a team of technically competent engineers within this high performing sector, as well as seeking new opportunities to develop the business. 

 

What You’ll Be Doing

– To act as Team Coordinator and line manager for members of their team, managing the day-to-day workload of each team member. Refer to PRO[1]MAN-03 for a description of the responsibilities of a Team Coordinator. 

– To be responsible for the welfare, job satisfaction and career development of team members.

 – To act as Project Lead on multiple projects. Refer to PRO-MAN-04 for a description of the responsibilities of a Project Lead. 

– To manage fees and resources in the team and to take responsibility for the successful delivery all projects in the team.

 – To lead the engineering design on multiple projects. To liaise with the external design team and take responsibility for ensuring the coordination of the building services design. 

– To provide technical engineering leadership internally, developing innovative concept designs, sharing knowledge, and offering technical development and guidance to others.

About You

– Minimum 10 year’s employment as a building services engineer. 

– To be a chartered member of either CIBSE (The Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers), IMechE (The institute of Mechanical Engineers) or IET (Institute of Engineering and Technology).

 – Good degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or other relevant engineering degree. 

– Awareness of current trends in environmental design, building services design and sustainability in construction. 

– Understanding of relevant building regulations and planning policy.

 – Understanding of relevant British Standards, CIBSE guidelines etc.

 – Understanding of designer’s responsibilities under Construction Design and Management Regulations.

 – Competent in using thermal modelling software such as IES. integrationuk.com GUI-MAN-13

–Associate Job Description – Competent in using 2D AutoCAD. 

– Experience using 3D modelling/BIM software such as REVIT. 

– Experience in managing junior engineers and delegating work. 

– Experience in leading a project internally and acting as the primary point of contact for the external design team. 

– Experience of managing project finances and managing resources.

 – Business development skills and ability to attract repeat work.

 – Awareness of environmental design and sustainability issues in construction. – Integrity and commitment.

 – Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload to meet deadlines. – Excellent leadership qualities with ability to inspire others. 

– Excellent interpersonal skills with an approachable, positive, and flexible attitude.

 – Excellent organisational skills.

 – Excellent communication and written skills. 

– Attention to detail
