Role Overview:
The M&E Quantity Surveyor will play a pivotal role in managing the financial aspects of M&E packages on residential mixed-use projects, ensuring accurate cost control and effective commercial administration. This position involves both pre- and post-contract responsibilities, working closely with the commercial team to maximize project profitability and contribute to the company’s continued growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Management & Forecasting
- Prepare and manage budgets, cost plans, and forecasts for M&E packages.
- Monitor project financials to ensure alignment with initial cost plans.
- Identify and manage risks to minimize cost overruns.
Procurement & Subcontract Management
- Assist with procurement of M&E packages, including sourcing, negotiating, and managing suppliers/subcontractors.
- Draft and review contracts, ensuring compliance with JCT or NEC contracts, as applicable.
- Conduct tender analysis and selection of subcontractors in collaboration with the Commercial Manager.
Valuations & Variations
- Prepare monthly valuations, applications for payment, and manage variations.
- Assess and agree on interim valuations with clients and subcontractors.
- Manage change control processes, ensuring any variations are captured and reflected in project financials.
Project Reporting
- Prepare regular project reports, including cash flow forecasts and CVRs, to be shared with the senior management team.
- Support project reviews to assess project performance, profitability, and areas for improvement.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain strong communication with clients, consultants, and the project team to ensure project objectives are met.
- Attend site meetings as necessary, providing updates on the commercial status of the project.
- Develop and nurture relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, fostering a collaborative environment.
Compliance & Contract Management
- Ensure adherence to JCT/NEC contracts and company policies.
- Resolve any contractual issues that may arise with stakeholders promptly.
Qualifications and Experience:
- HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in M&E Quantity Surveying, ideally within residential mixed-use developments.
- Solid knowledge of M&E systems and services, including cost management.
- Familiarity with JCT and NEC forms of contract.
- Proficiency in cost management software and MS Office suite.
