Senior Transport Operator

Streamline Services are looking for an experienced Senior Transport Operator on behalf of our client, a global freight forwarder, based in Peterborough.

This is a full-time permanent role, Monday-Friday 8:30AM-5PM. Salary is NEG DOE + Excellent benefits and career opportunities. 

Responsibilities: 

• Manage and coordinate daily transport operations throughout the UK & Europe 
• Allocate jobs to contractors and scheduling
• Book shipping space with ferry operators using internet portals, optimizing utilisation
• Ensure timely receipt and processing of bookings, meeting commitments made to clients
• Maintain accurate and up to date information in our computer systems related to each job
• Utilise satellite tracking systems to monitor the locations of trailers and trucks for efficient tracking
• Promptly identify and report any concerns related to potential or actual losses on movements
• Liaise with suppliers and utilise freight exchanges to ensure the continuous movement of trailers
• Generate accurate and timely invoices to recover demurrage and additional charges 
• Engage with trailer suppliers to arrange MOT, servicing and repair of trailers 
• General administrative duties 

Requirements: 

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a transport environment, ideally in a senior role
• In depth understanding of driver hours regulations and other relevant industry regulations
• Experience in European transport operations
• Strong communication skills to convey requirements & to collaborate with suppliers/stakeholders
• Strong communication skills
• Flexible approach to duties and tasks
• Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure / cost of poor quality
• Consistently manages the task in hand
